The Exponential Effect of True Disciple Making
“I say unto
you, that likewise joy shall be in Heaven over one sinner that repenteth,
more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance." Luke
15:7
Imagine if you labor in prayer and the proclamation of the Gospel for the next two years and God uses that labor to produce two true converts. You continue to instruct these converts on being an authentic Christian and within two more years, the three of you each see God save two more. Now there are nine of you—and this course of patient, persistent, and Biblical discipleship continues (see chart below). What is the effect? It is exponential. Within 25 years there would be over one million Christians added to the Kingdom of God! Within 30 years there would be over one billion! How does it begin? With you. God's way is one-reaching-one. When God's work is done God's way, people will be genuinely converted; and a genuinely converted, true disciple, will reach others....and the Gospel keeps moving forward.
| Day 1 | 2 Years | 4 Years | 6 Years | 8 Years | 10 Years | 12 Years | 14 Years | 16 Years | 18 Years | 20 Years | |
| Starting Period | 1 | 3 | 9 | 27 | 81 | 243 | 729 | 2187 | 6561 | 19,683 | 59,049 |
| Ending Period | 3 | 9 | 27 | 81 | 243 | 729 | 2187 | 6561 | 19,683 | 59,049 | 177,147 |

The importance of laboring diligently to make "true" disciples can not be overstated. Many times this is not done because ministers give in to temptation and are overtaken with "ministerial pride". Many ministers have departed from God's way out of a desire to appear more successful to their peers. The result is often the production of apathetic, worldly, "tare"-filled churches which have no likeness to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In fact, these bring reproach to His Holy Name and tend to turn people from His kingdom rather than towards it. We must remember that the things which are highly esteemed by men are an "abomination in the sight of God" (Luke 16:15). In contrast, Jesus said when ONE sinner truly repents there is great rejoicing in Heaven (Luke 15:7, 10). When a person is truly converted, a difference will be made through them and God receives great glory. Praise God! Let's steadfastly do God's work, God's way.

us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we
faint not...”
